Construction work has begun on a new retirement community in Heaton Mersey, The Woodlands, with developer’s Adlington Retirement Living releasing new images of the scheme.
The project will see 63 apartments for the over-55s built on a 1.5 acre site on Woodlands Road in Heaton Mersey. Construction is expected to complete on the scheme of one-, two- and three-bedroom retirement flats by the end of the year.
Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said:
Our award-winning approach to independent living, ensures homeowners don’t have to compromise on their lifestyle, their social life or their independence.
“We aim to provide a community spirit, whilst promoting independence and individual respect.
“It’s a chance to become part of a thriving community of like-minded people, with a shared outlook.”

Facilities at the home will include a communal lounge, coffee bar, restaurant, therapy suite, hair salon and landscaped gardens for residents to enjoy. Alexandra added:
One of the main benefits of retirement living is not having to worry about maintaining a house and garden anymore.
“It’s lovely to hear many of our Homeowners at our other developments comment on the free time and energy they have to enjoy life. They often remark how much more ‘me time’ they discover not having to worry about repairs, DIY or mowing.”
Plans for the retirement community were first submitted in 2019.
