Stockport’s new community publishing platform, We are Stockport, sponsors of their own special ‘We are Stockport’ category in the 2015 Stockport Business Awards, have announced the 3 finalists selected from a shortlist of 5 announced last week.
I Love Bramhall; Screen Stockport and The Vintage Village have all made it to the finals for ‘We are Stockport’’s inaugural award.
Rachel Wallace, Place Campaign Manager for ‘We are Stockport’, said:
“The judges had a tough time deciding on the final three. The calibre of entrants was outstanding, testament to the fantastic place Stockport is. We are Stockport is proving to be an incredibly popular publishing platform, probably as the people in Stockport truly believe in their place and want to share what makes Stockport a great place to live, work and visit!”
The award came about as a result of the We are Stockport website launching three months ago to showcase positive stories from across Stockport. It brings together news from other sites, including the Stockport Express, and directs traffic back to them.
I Love Bramhall was founded by Wendy Green whose aim is to bring Bramhall to life by sharing what it has to offer, supporting and promoting local businesses and driving a range of events and local initiatives.
Screen Stockport is an annual independent film festival which, over the last five years, has provided a valuable platform to film makers of all ages, whilst bringing the local community together through a celebration of independent film.
The Vintage Village at Stockport Market Hall was developed by local independent traders to contribute towards efforts to regenerate the beautifully restored Market Hall and Market Place into the thriving hub it had been for centuries past. The second Sunday of every month sees hundreds flock to the vintage fair.
This new category with the Stockport Business Awards reflects and supports the campaign run by We are Stockport to showcase all that is great and good about Stockport. Rachel adds:

Stockport Business Awards takes place on 15th October at Stockport Town Hall where the winners of all 13 categories will be announced.
The Stockport Business Awards is an event set up for businesses by businesses. It is organised by accountancy practice Clarke Nicklin, and headline sponsors are high profile businesses from the region; Gorvins Solicitors, Orbit Developments and NatWest.
