Volcanic Stockport, a recruitment technology firm, have appointed a former MAG Business Partner to Human Resources Director.
Passionate about sourcing talent in technology to shape the future strategy of a business, Victoria Bond is a strong advocate of diversity in the workplace, which ties in perfectly with the Volcanic 50/50 gender agenda.
The Volcanic team has more than doubled over the past 12 months to reach almost 100 people globally, supported from its Stockport headquarters.
Victoria said:
“I’m a huge believer in finding the best talent and developing an inclusive culture within a business.
“Volcanic stands out as being one of the fastest growing technology companies in the North West and attributes its success to its strong culture of diversity throughout the business.
“As a technology company, we’ve smashed the glass ceiling and are proud to count nearly 40 percent female employees, in roles including the senior management team, heads of department, graphic designers and website developers, striding ahead of tech giants like Google (31 percent).
“This rapid pace of growth proves that diverse teams offering a balance of cultures, genders and personalities perform better. As the global digital transformation continues, and digital skills combined with the spirit of innovation become increasingly sought after, it’s more important than ever that we hire and retain the absolute best in talent.”
With recent research indicating that female employees in the UK make up just 17 percent of the technology sector,* Volcanic believes it’s vital that the industry works to close the gender gap.
Rob Wilde, CEO, said:
“Volcanic is a young company, with an average age of 27. We’re proud of our 50/50 gender agenda and strong outreach and mentoring programme that has resulted in Volcanic, proportionally, having more female engineers than Google.
“Gender parity must start at a grassroots level. All businesses need to put their money where their mouths are to achieve gender equality and close the gap. We’re confident we’ll reach our goal of 50/50 gender parity by the end of this year.
“We’re hugely excited to have an experienced HR Director in Victoria on board, who will continue to seek the very best in global talent to support our fast growth.”
Victoria joins Volcanic Stockport from the Manchester Airport Group delivering people strategy and business transformation across the group’s landside and commercial teams. Prior to that Victoria spent ten years with automotive giant Cox Automotive, a forward-thinking organisation that changed the way the global motor industry operates, where she gained strong experience in HR strategy in a fast paced technology environment.
