At the launch of the Greater Manchester Strategy 2025–2035, Mayor Andy Burnham introduced a comprehensive blueprint designed to deliver a greener, fairer, and more prosperous future for the entire city region. Central to the strategy are two key pillars: the Growth Plan and the People Plan, which aim to ensure that every resident and community across Greater Manchester benefits from inclusive economic progress.
Stockport is already making great strides towards this shared ambition. The borough is focusing on developing skills, expanding job opportunities, building more homes, and improving health and wellbeing for all. One of the standout commitments is the long-awaited extension of the Metrolink to Stockport by 2030.
Celebrating this momentum, a new video has been released showcasing Stockport’s revitalisation. Presented by Katie Hodson, Partner at SAS Daniels LLP and proud Stopfordian, the film captures the spirit of a town with fresh energy and a clear direction. Born, raised, and working in Stockport, Katie embodies the renewed pride and optimism that’s developing across the borough.
The video is part of a nine-part series showcasing the people who live, work, and enjoy life in Greater Manchester, highlighting the diversity, energy, and potential across the region.
Alongside powerful human stories, the Greater Manchester Strategy 2025–2035 outlines transformative plans to better connect communities through an integrated and more affordable transport network. A key ambition is the transformation of Greater Manchester’s technical education system, led by the introduction of the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate. This will ensure that every young person who needs one has access to a guaranteed high-quality 45-day work placement, a vital step towards preparing for the future world of work.
