Vernon Building Society has launched a brand new community funding scheme to help local charities and not-for-profit groups across the Stockport borough.
The mutual has supported the local community through its popular Community Awards for the last 10 years, donating over £100,000 to more than 100 local good causes. The new Community Stars scheme will replace the annual awards and run all year round so that the building society can help more groups, more often.
Vernon will be offering a share of its £12,000 fund to a Community Star organisation every quarter, chosen via its members, colleagues, and the public throughout the year.
Tanasè Rivers, Head of Marketing, Brand and Culture at the Society, said:
“Vernon believes in giving back to the fantastic local community in Stockport.
“We want to give more regularly to the incredible groups, charities and not-for-profits that work so hard to make Stockport the amazing place it is to live and work.
“That’s why we’re launching our new Community Stars scheme to support local groups throughout the year.
“Show us the causes close to your heart in our wonderful community.”
How to apply for Community Stars
Vernon has made the entry process as easy as possible, so local groups only need to apply once to be in with a chance to be awarded a portion of the fund throughout the year.
Individuals can also apply on behalf of a group that benefits the local community; the Society will get in touch with them to complete their application.
