Vernon Building Society’s Jubilee Fund awarded Stockport South Foodbank £550 to help those in need in the local area.
As well as purchasing food and other supplies, the Foodbank used their funding to increase their storage capacity to allow them to hold more donations at their main site at Hazel Grove Baptist Church.
Staff from the Vernon visited the Foodbank and met with their volunteers to hear about how the funding had helped to support those who have been referred to the Foodbank from the local authority.
Nigel Tedford, Project Co-ordinator at the Foodbank (pictured here with Ian Keeling, Head of Sales and Marketing at the Vernon) said:
“I wanted to express our sincerest thanks to all at the Vernon Building Society who made this donation to our work possible. It is a wonderful encouragement to us and will help us enormously as we step out on the path of helping those within our community who go without food on the table, on a regular basis, due to crisis within their lives.”
