Stockport’s Vernon Building Society is helping more home buyers to get on the property ladder reporting that there were 45% more completions from first time buyers in October 2014 when compared with October 2013.
The Vernon’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Ian Keeling, said:
“In October 19% of our mortgage completions were first time buyers.
“As a building society our aim is to support local people into home ownership and we do this by providing innovative and flexible products that are designed to meet the significant challenges facing many potential buyers.
“The increase in our first time buyer numbers suggests that our approach is helping, although unfortunately for many, the prospect of home ownership still remains out of reach due to the high cost of houses.”
The Vernon has qualified mortgage advisers available at each branch and offers a range of savings and mortgage products for first time buyers.
They also have a calculator on their website http://www.thevernon.co.uk/Mortgage.aspx which gives mortgage borrowers a guide to how much they can borrow with the Vernon.
