After a challenging shortlisting period where a Vernon Community panel reviewed 98 applications to the community awards from across Stockport, they have chosen the lucky 14 Community Awards Finalists who are now up for a chance of winning up to £1500 to support their causes.
The voting is now open and this year new faces such as Stockport LGBT+ Youth Group, The Garden House Charity and Smart Works Greater Manchester as well as other great causes across Stockport are up for a chance of winning some of the funding.
The full list of groups on the shortlist is:
- Stockport Loaves & Fishes
- Millie’s Trust
- Stockport LGBT+ Youth Group
- Stockport Sharks Swimming Club
- Offerton Cricket Juniors
- The Garden House Charity
- Smart Works Greater Manchester
- Transport for Sick Children
- Poynton Community First Responders
- Paramount Amateur Boxing Club
- The Millennium Youth Bar Trust
- Stockport User Friendly Fellowship
- Pure Insight 16-28 Care Leavers Group
- MENTELL
Voting will run until 30th September 2019. During this time the general public is invited to vote for the organisations that they believe will provide the most benefit to the Stockport community.
A description of the shortlisted organisations and what they intend to use the funding for and a voting form is available on the website.
You can also place your votes in person at any of the Vernon’s six local branches across Stockport, all of which can be found HERE:
Funding will be distributed based on a tiered system with 1st place receiving £1,500 and 14th place, £250 so everyone receives funding that will make a difference.
