Charities and community projects are being invited to apply for the Vernon Building Society’s £10,000 community Jubilee Fund now open for applications!
Launched in 2012, the Jubilee Fund was set up by Vernon Building Society to support community and charitable causes in the Stockport area. The Vernon was so impressed with the community spirit and sense of local pride that featured so heavily last year that they have decided to again award £10,000 to local causes.
Local charity or community groups can now apply for a share of this fund online at www.thevernon.co.uk/jubilee_fund where full terms and conditions are also available. All the Vernon are asking is that you tell them about your group, how you would use the funding and how this would benefit the Stockport community. The application deadline is 30th June 2013 so groups need to ensure that their applications are submitted by this date.
All applications will be reviewed and a shortlist of 20 finalists will be selected by the Jubilee Fund panel. These 20 finalists will then be featured in the Stockport Express along with tokens that can be cut out and used by members of the public to vote for their preferred cause. Funding will be allocated to groups in proportion to the votes that they receive.
Mike Hanson, Chief Executive of the Vernon said: “It’s been great to see the progress that groups have made as a result of the Jubilee Fund despite the difficult economic climate. Last year we had a real variety of causes who applied and we would encourage any local charity or community causes seeking support to apply this year. This is a great opportunity for groups to publicise their cause as well as receive some much needed funding.”
