100 years since its founding in Stockport, Vernon Building Society is investing in its first TV ad as part of a campaign to grow its visibility across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
From Monday 24 February, the Vernon’s Make It Count ad will encourage viewers to think about where they keep their money, and will be broadcast on ITV Granada for an initial month-long burst.
The advert educates viewers that saving with your local building society means Vernon Members not only get a fair rate, but they also help local first-time buyers, support local charities and join a Society that puts its Members first, not shareholders.
Filmed in the Vernon’s recently refurbished St Petersgate branch in Stockport, the 30 second ad cast colleagues as extras.
Darren Ditchburn, new CEO at Vernon Building Society said:
“This feels like the right time for us to invest in TV advertising. The Vernon aims to have a presence in each of the ten Greater Manchester boroughs over the next five years, so it’s important people in Greater Manchester and Cheshire understand our values.
“With the ISA deadline approaching, we want people to think carefully about where they save their money. Investing in a local building society not only provides you with competitive rates, it also builds a better future where you live and work. Building societies have a commitment to invest in local charities and causes and listen to the wishes of Members about the issues that matters most to them.”
The Make It Count campaign is targeted predominantly at adults aged 55+. It will also be supported with radio advertising, paid search, social media advertising and door drops.
