Stockport’s Vernon Building Society have commented on a recent survey carried out by housing charity Shelter which found that nearly 4 million families in the UK could be just one paycheque away from losing their home.
Head of Sales and Marketing at the Vernon, Ian Keeling, said:
“It’s quite worrying that there are so many families who are so close to the breadline. This research by Shelter highlights exactly why careful financial planning is so important, particularly for those with dependents or a property. Whether it’s building up a reserve of savings to use in an emergency, taking out an Income Protection policy or ensuring that you have life cover in place, these are all measures which are relatively straightforward to take but can make all the difference if you need them.”
