The Vernon Building Society have donated all the profits from their 2019 calendar to Stockport charity Signpost for Carers.
The Stockport charity had previously received £750 from the Vernon’s 2018 Community Awards taking the total amount received by Stockport Signpost for Carers to £1623.60.
Local photographer John Varley, who took first place for his photo of Reddish Vale in the Vernon Building Society’s annual calendar competition last year, offered the chance to donate all of the money raised through calendar sales to a Vernon Community Awards finalist of his choice and chose Stockport Signpost for Carers.
The Vernon Marketing team visited Signpost Stockport for Carers headquarters in Heaton Moor to speak with their people and to see how the funding can impact their charitable work. Signpost provides carers in the local area with advice, support and information related to caring as well as time to recharge from their taxing job. They host wellbeing days which offer therapy and treatments to carers alongside refreshments in order to boost their morale and emotional wellbeing. The Vernon attended one of these events in 2018 to sell calendars and to see Signpost Stockport for Carers in action in the community.
Marketing Manager Alex Deakin said:
“We are very thankful to the local community for purchasing our 2019 calendars in support of Signpost Stockport for Carers, the donations will go a long way in helping support such an important charity.”
