Stockport’s Vernon Building Society has selected the 20 local charity and community groups who will receive an award from their £10,000 Jubilee Fund. The public vote opens next Wednesday 14th August and readers of the Stockport Express will be able to vote for their favourite group. The more votes a group receives, the higher their share of the £10,000 funding will be! This year the Jubilee Fund received over 100 applications, all of which were reviewed and assessed by the Society’s panel who selected 20 finalists to receive funding.
The local charity and community groups who will receive a share of the £10,000 2013 fund are:
HOTSHOTS

Our Ladys Theatre Group

More information about each of these charity and community groups will be featured in a special
pull out in the Stockport Express on 14th August. To determine the amount of funding each
group receives the Vernon is asking local people to have their say and vote for their favourite.
The voting will also begin on 14th August, with tokens published each week in the Stockport
Express until 16th September. These tokens can be collected and dropped into any of Vernon
Building Society’s seven local branches or the groups themselves.
The amount of funding each group receives will depend on the number of tokens that are collected for them. Mike Hanson, Chief Executive of the Vernon said:
“We’re really pleased with the 20 finalists that have been selected and thought that their applications showed their commitment to providing a lasting benefit to their local community. We would like to wish each group the best of luck with collecting tokens and hope that the public will really support them. Every vote counts and the more tokens a group receives, the larger their share of funding will be.”
