Nearly one year on from the start of the war in Ukraine, the United for Ukraine initiative is hosting an online event for employers to learn how they can get involved with supporting refugees coming to the UK to escape the conflict.
Finding a job and accessing new skills in a different country can be a daunting experience. That’s why United for Ukraine was formed in April 2022 by a coalition of business leaders and organisations across the north of England – including the Northern Powerhouse Partnership and North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT), with support from the NP11 group of Local Enterprise Partnerships. At the start, it wasn’t clear if it would be needed for a few weeks, months – or longer. Nearly one year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on 24th February 2022, the initiative’s services continue to support evacuees coming to our region and are as relevant as ever.
On the anniversary of the start of the conflict, Friday 24th February 2023 at 11am, the United for Ukraine initiative will host an online webinar sharing the achievements of the campaign over the past 12 months, and setting out its future ambitions and how more employers can support the scheme.
United for Ukraine is continuing to work with employers who offer good job opportunities to Ukrainian refugees in a supportive environment – jobs for a minimum of three months which contain salary details and pay at least Real Living wage of £10.90 per hour. The website provides helpful information for refugees and a searchable list of jobs from employers who have committed to providing them.
The refugee crisis created by the conflict hasn’t gone away. More employers are needed to support United for Ukraine as it continues to widen its reach across the North.
To join the team for an introduction to United for Ukraine, an update for what has been achieved so far and learn how you can get in involved and help, register for the free webinar via Eventbrite.
