Stockport based Trust brand communications has expanded its relationship with one of the UK’s leading training and skills providers, ECTA Training.
Trust delivered a nationwide campaign to train and recruit Smart Meter Engineers for their partners G4S and Providor.
The campaign, encompassing digital, video, social media and PR – handled by PR Agency One – is part of a major drive by ECTA Training to train Smart Meter Engineers for guaranteed jobs once qualified.
In 2009, the EU stipulated that 80% of UK households should be fitted with smart metering technology by 2020.
In response, the UK government launched an ambitious installation programme, aiming to put smart meters into every one of the country’s 27 million homes by the 2020 deadline.
The smart meter delivery programme, which is already being implemented by all energy companies, has opened up a raft of opportunities for both existing energy engineers as well as those new to the industry, to give their careers a boost. Qualified Smart meter installers can expect to earn between £16k and £40k per year as well as being supplied with a van and state of the art tablets for booking jobs. Many employers are also presenting attractive pension and share save schemes, with some even offering to refund training fees.
Kerry-Anne Berry, Director at ECTA Training said “The nationwide smart meter rollout has already started, but so far we have only seen the tip of the iceberg. To meet the UK’s ambitious smart meter targets will require the assembly of a huge workforce of highly trained engineers, something which ECTA Training is helping to deliver. Trust put together a comprehensive recruitment campaign which we are confident will raise the profile of the wealth of opportunities available to qualified smart meter engineers.”
Gemma McCall, Relationship Director at Trust said “Having worked with ECTA Training for a couple of years, we are delighted to be working on this campaign, which will be a real game-changer for their business.”
