The Together Trust is hoping to use £5,000 raised by a Marketing Stockport member to fund its Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
We asked for four businesses to step forward to raise a total of £20,000 for our four charities – Beechwood Cancer Care Centre, NK Theatre Arts, Seashell Trust and the Together Trust.
Office technology and IT service provider Midshire has so far pledged to raise £5,000 for NK Theatre Arts.
The Together Trust wants to use its share of the cash to buy equipment for its DofE expeditions.
Jennifer Sweeney, senior fundraiser, said: “Supporting people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and complex needs, the charity believes that everyone deserves an equal chance in life.
“Together Trust’s Ashcroft School which supports students with emotional and learning difficulties is looking for funding to support their Duke of Edinburgh Award pursuits.
“Projects like this can help students gain the skills and confidence to go on to study in mainstream schools, colleges and further education.
“These extra-curricular activities give these young people a valuable opportunity to learn life skills outside the classroom.”
The Together Trust in Cheadle provides residential care, community support, fostering and special education to 2,300 young people and families in the north west each year.
‘The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme gives our young people positive, long-lasting memories,” said Helen Price, outdoor pursuits assistant at Together Trust.
“It is for many of them a rare opportunity to be out camping in the countryside, being independent and having responsibility for themselves as well as working as part of a team with their peers.”
