After much deliberation, four teams of two made it to the start line as part of Together’s inaugural Race Around the World in aid of local good causes.
Rigorous rules ensured each of the four teams met the demanding criteria, including raising a minimum of £1500 each for their nominated charity.
Each team member was given £500 each and, although they were allowed to keep their phones with them, hitchhiking and air travel was banned on their epic trip from London to Albania with checkpoints along the way.
A surprise visit from Together’s Chief of People, Kevin Fisher, saw the Together Challengers – Alex & Jack, Mollie & Herbie, Sajeel & Michael and Claudia & Sue – gather at Big Ben on 17th August before setting off for their final destination.
The race from London to Albania was inspired by the BBC’s popular TV show ‘Race Across The World’ and raised much needed funds for their charity partners: Seashell, Forever Manchester, Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity, HideOut Youth Zone & Manchester Youth Zone.
With just 7 days to complete the race, whichever team reaches the final checkpoint in Albania first will win bragging rights and £15,000 for their charity!
- 2nd Place- £10,000
- 3rd Place- £5,000
- 4th Place- £3,000
From sleeping in bus stations to exploring the Swiss Alps, Together’s challengers are well on their way to the final checkpoint! But who will be the first team to reach Albania?
