The White Horse, Disley, shows off a fresh new look following an intensive 5-week £220k refurbishment from Stockport-based brewers Robinsons Brewery, and licensee Amy Waddington-Green.
The pub, purchased by Robinsons in June 1949, had become a little tired over the years and was in need of a brighter more welcoming atmosphere and an improved layout. Thanks to the substantial investment, the White Horse has been transformed and re-established as a landmark community pub offering unrivalled hospitality to loyal regulars and new visitors alike.
Externally, the pub has been illuminated, redecorated, and redesigned. A striking signage scheme, featuring neutral colours of whites, greens and the instantly recognisable Robinsons copper, now blankets the walls and a new entrance has been created to the rear of the building, making the pub more accessible for customers.

Licensee, Amy Waddington-Green, said:
“I am delighted at the amazing transformation that the White Horse has undergone, the pub is unrecognisable! Our customer base has been hugely extended to include some of the more youthful residents of the village. And, on a personal note, I am very proud to be running the best-looking pub in Disley and excited to see what the future holds.”
Internally, the entire area has been revitalised and refreshed, following a delicate colour scheme of pastel greens, stone and oatmeal. An illuminated oak tree takes centre stage of the rear wall in the cosy dining area, portraying one of the pub’s most alluring and attractive features, and radiates a relaxed feel – perfect for the coming winter months.
Customers can expect comfort from new fixed and loose brown leather and tartan fabric seating, alongside stylish lime-washed wooden furniture to match the new oak flooring throughout. Atmospheric mood lighting has been fitted in all areas of the pub, with gleaming pendants over dining tables and the bar, and fixed wall lighting helping to set the perfect mood.
Alan Chapman, Business Development Manager at Robinsons Brewery, commented:
“The White Horse sits in a great location just off Disley Village, and has had a loyal customer base for many years. The pub needed a complete overhaul to give it a new lease of life, and to modernise the whole area. The pub now looks up-to-date with a refreshed feel and is a real asset to Disley.”
One of the biggest changes is the installation of a stunning new oak bar, featuring patterned panelling, which reveals an enhanced product display, inclusive of cask beers, Robinsons’ delicious new stout, a range of continental lagers, a wide-ranging wine list, premium spirits and an exciting cocktail range. The bar has been relocated to improve service and accessibility, with an internal wall knocked through to permit an upgraded view of the bar from the entrance. The new internal structure allows for a better layout and flexibility to accommodate larger parties and occasional entertainment.
If you’re looking for a place to sit back, relax and enjoy excellent food and drink in stylish, comfortable surroundings, the White Horse serves freshly prepared mouth-watering food, 7 days a week, with frequent menu changes to reflect the seasons and local ingredients.
