The Hatters Arms, Marple, a local favourite, which dates back to the early 19th century, has reopened as Robinsons Brewery continues its programme of refurbishment across 40 of its 300+ pub estate.
The Hatter’s was tastefully renovated to ensure that its original charm was retained by the brewery design team who chose a palette of greys, greens, warmer neutral tones and a striking feature wallpaper, depicting vintage woodern crates, now enhances the interior. The existing seating was re-upholstered with accent fabrics to some chairs and quirky table lamps made from old books sit alongside new industrial lighting.
The pub, which was originally named the Hatters Arms due to the large population of workers in the village who produced raw material for making hats, now features a bric-a-brac furnishing scheme consisting of various hats and related memorabilia; a tribute to the pub’s history and the burgeoning Stockport hat industry of the 17th century.
The most noticable change to the bar is the addition of a new bank of 4 hand pulls, all primed to serve a rotating selection of award winning cask ale; a feature that didn’t go unnoticed when the pub opened it’s doors to the public last weekend.
The pub exterior hasn’t been forgotten and is back to looking its best with new external signage, a seasonal planting scheme and a feature copper lantern above the main entrance. The external seating area has also been enhanced with new barrel planters, picnic benches and atmospheric festoon lighting; the perfect hideout on hot summer days.
Ellis Wardle, Business Development Manager for Robinsons Brewery said:
“The Hatters Arms is the perfect example of a quintessential village local. Its regulars all know each other and many of them have been enjoying a pint of Unicorn in there for many years! The new look has given the pub a well deserved breath of fresh air and the feedback we’ve received since opening has been outstanding. The future is certainly bright and I have no doubt that this perfect little pub will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
