The Grapes, situated in Gee Cross, Hyde, has recently reopened following a renovation worth £160k from Stockport-based Robinsons Brewery.
The community local, which prides itself on delicious food and a selection of real ale, had become tired over the years and was in need of substantial investment to bring it back to life.
Long-term licencee of The Grapes, Marcello Tansella, said:
I have run The Grapes for 15 years now, and it is a great community local which just needed to be refreshed and modernised. It became quite outdated over the years, and I really wanted to give our loyal customers somewhere nicer to relax and dine, while also creating a pub to welcome new customers too. The Grapes is a lot more spacious now, and the whole area feels brighter and friendlier. I look forward to welcoming all customers to the newly refurbished Grapes.”
The Grapes now features a dazzling new bar, with an increased range of premium lagers and cask ales, including Robinsons’ Unicorn and Cumbria Way, accompanied by a wider selection of wines and spirits. A dividing wall was removed, opening up space around the solid oak bar, with its steel back-fitting, over dark grey ceramic tiles, and featuring new over bar glass storage.
The whole bar area has also been transformed, with a mix of new green velour and tan leather seating installed throughout the area, providing a choice of spaces for customers to relax. The oak tables and bar are further complemented by fresh herringbone parquet flooring, which now runs throughout the pub.
Alan Chapman, Business Development Manager at Robinsons Brewery, commented:
The Grapes sits in a prime location in Gee Cross, Hyde, and needed a complete overhaul to give it a new lease of life, and to modernise the whole pub. The pub now looks up-to-date with a refreshed classical feel and is a real asset to Gee Cross.”
The dining area has also been completely refurbished, with the addition of three cosy booths, perfect for larger dining parties. The booths are complemented by new loose tables and chairs, with a fresh pastel green and cream colour scheme. The dining area is equipped to cater for groups of all sizes whatever the occasion. The Grapes has a new menu featuring pub classics such as Robinsons ale battered fish, hand-cut chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce, mouth-watering pies and vegan options too.
New lighting has been installed throughout the pub, and all areas including the toilets have been redecorated in a complementary palette of modern colours. The rear beer garden has been paved to allow all-weather use, mirroring the popular paved terrace to the front of the Grapes that was installed last year. The Grapes now benefits from a retarmacked and relined car park, making it easier for customers to park and enjoy.
