The Forum Theatre in Romiley has announced a series of Stockport Sounds Presents: live gigs giving the chance for local bands to showcase their talents at the borough’s biggest indoor standing venue for live music.
The launch of the Stockport Sounds events follows a successful award of funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The funding has helped pay for a significant installation of new sound equipment including amps, speakers and microphones, which make the Forum a perfect place for live music.
Darren Stannage from The Forum said
“We installed our new equipment in the autumn and have had a few taster events such as tribute bands and solo gigs as we made sure everything was just right for live music. We wanted to make sure that there is a top quality music venue in Stockport with a large standing capacity keeping bands in the borough rather than having to go straight to Manchester once they have outgrown the Stockport pub and club scene. They need to earn money to progress and we will give them that opportunity with Stockport Sounds Presents!
“With a licensed capacity of 500 at The Forum, we expect to have some fantastic nights of live music as we celebrate the journey of Stockport bands and this is a brilliant legacy from the Town of Culture celebrations last year.”
The first Stockport Sounds Presents event will take place on Friday 21st February 2025.
Among the bands performing during the first event are Kathy’s Band, a Stockport based party band with a penchant for Classic Rock, guaranteed to raise the roof! Joining them will be Grand Volume, a 3 piece blues rock outfit putting their own slant on varying genres including soul, funk, reggae, rock and blues!
Tickets are on sale now priced just £10 and can be booked here.
Stockport bands interested in the chance to perform at future Stockport Sounds Presents events at The Forum should contact the theatre for further information.
