With more than 300,000 fans expected to descend on Manchester’s Heaton Park for Oasis’ Live ’25 tour, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is forecasting a busy period on the city-region’s transport network.
On Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July, Oasis will be kickstarting their five gigs in Heaton Park, which will continue on Wednesday 16, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July. With five performances taking place across the two weeks, TfGM is encouraging every to plan their journeys in advance as the road and public transport network will be extremely busy.
Coinciding with Oasis’ tour dates in the city, other major events are also taking place across the next two weekends that will add further to congestion across the city-region, TfGM warns. The AO Arena will welcome Kool and the Gang on 11th July, and Paw Patrol on the 19th and 20th July, drawing crowds of up to 20,000. Meanwhile Billie Eilish will perform at the Co-op Live Arena on 19th July. Across town, the 11th and 12th July will see gigs held at the Castlefield Bowl, while on the 19th July, Emirates Old Trafford will see Lancashire Lightning take on Yorkshire in the cricket.
As a result of a packed schedule of events, TfGM is strongly advising road users against making unnecessary journeys by car, and retiming or rerouting any journeys to avoid the city centre and heavy congestion. Ongoing essential works to Metrolink tracks in Manchester city centre are also adding to the disruption, with no trams operating through Piccadiily Gardens.
For those attending Oasis, tram and shuttle bus, operating between Lever Street to Heaton Park, will be the best way to travel to and from the park; tickets can be purchased in advance via the Bee Network app.
To reduce disruption from the Oasis tour dates, local authorities and TfGM are also collectively introducing the following key mitigations:
- Enhancing monitoring of the highways and transport network from TfGM’s 24/7 Transport
Control Centre and using intelligence to strengthen public transport provision. - Collaborating with transport operators to provide a co-ordinated response to events and
congestion. - Providing disruption information and travel advice to customers and event venues.
- Updating the Bee Network App and providing on stop information to advise customers.
- Monitoring and amending traffic signal timings in real time across the network and on diversion
routes to maximise throughput. Updating live navigation devices in real time with road
closures and incidents. - Using TfGM, National Highways and portable roadside electronic message signs to advise of
events and disruption at key points across the Greater Manchester road network.
For any journeys in the region over the course of the five days affected by the Oasis gigs, by car or public transport, TfGM advises leaving plenty of extra time for travel and downloading the Bee Network App to stay up to date with the latest travel information.
