TfGM’s Travel Choices Accreditation Awards
Two additional awards were awarded on the day to organisations who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to promote, and increase, sustainable travel.
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust received that Active Travel Award as they have seen the use of sustainable travel for the daily commute increase by 9%, and to a point whereby nearly half of all employees travel to work sustainably.
Meanwhile, The University of Manchester won the Champion of Champions Award after carbon emissions for commuter travel dropped by 35% in the last five years, cycling and walking increased by 7% and student public transport use reached 45%.
The awards event was a celebration of both the great work carried out by the companies, as well as the success of the Travel Choices team.
Travel Choices thanked everyone who attended the Travel Choices Accreditation Awards:
It was fantastic to see so many organisations there showing such enthusiasm to make a change and promote sustainable travel.
If you were inspired by Wednesday’s event, we have another event taking place at HOME on Sunday 25 March. We’ll be hosting a one-stop shop of cycling events with a host of partners who have helped deliver events throughout the #RideWithUsGM series.
And on Friday 6 April it’s National Walk to Work Day. A walk in the morning can help clear your head and set you up for the day. It can ward off chronic illness later in life. And for every mile walked instead of driven, you’ll be cutting 0.2kg of CO2. So what will you commit to this Walk to Work Day?
