Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has announced the launch of an £830,000 grant scheme to help small businesses, community groups, education and healthcare providers to install cycle parking.
The grant scheme – funded through the Department for Transport and Active Travel England’s Capability and Ambition Fund – allows eligible organisations to access grants of up to £15,000 towards the cost of installing cycle parking that can be used anyone travelling by bike to their location.
TfGM’s last cycle parking grant programme proved extremely popular, with over 1600 new and improved spaces funded at key community locations throughout Greater Manchester.
Grants can be used to fund the capital costs of installing new cycle parking facilities, or improving existing facilities as well as outdoor and shared use areas, including necessary groundworks. Additional facilities such as public repair stations and pumps that complement cycle park can also be provided through the grant scheme.
The grants form part of TfGM and Greater Manchester’s refreshed active travel mission, which aims to support more people to opt to cycle for shorter journeys with the benefits of boosting public health and reducing air pollution and CO2 emissions caused by car use.
The scheme is open to small businesses (defined as having fewer than 50 employees and an annual turnover of less than £10.2 million), charities, voluntary organisations, community interest companies and social enterprises, schools and further education providers, and NHS healthcare providers.
To apply, and for further details on the eligibility criteria for the grants, visit TfGM’s Bee Active website. The deadline to submit applications in 10th November 2023.
