Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has launched its Get On Board Christmas campaign to encourage more people to choose public and active transport to reach events over the festive season.
Through until the end of December, TfGM will be promoting sustainable travel across Greater Manchester on social media, OOH advertising, and on Metrolink and bus stops across the city-region.Vernon Everitt, Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester, explained:
“With lower bus fares and great value daily and weekend Metrolink ticket options as we build the integrated Bee Network, public transport and active travel has never been more accessible and cost-effective for everyone in Greater Manchester over the festive period.
“With the roads expected to be very busy, sustainable public transport and active travel is the way to go.”
As part of the Christmas campaign, TfGM will also host an interactive map to promote venues, activities and events over the festive period and is inviting organisations to contact them to ensure their events are included. Participants will also benefit from promotion on TfGM social media channels, reaching an audience of over 196,000 to help drive footfall to local businesses and events.
Throughout December, Metrolink will also be running its Advent Calendar competition from 1st to 24th via social media. Businesses are also being invited to offer prizes as part of the competition, and benefit from further digital coverage for your brand.
TfGM is also working with SUEZ to provide ‘bikes for life’ to local charities and community groups to pass on to those wanting to get on the saddle. The bikes, which have been reclaimed from SUEZ’s waste management sites across Greater Manchester, will be given away as part of the campaign.
