Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is putting local residents at the front of its It’s Your Move campaign to encourage more people to make use of active travel options this summer.
The campaign is aimed at helping to break down barriers to walking, cycling and wheeling across the city-region. Across its social media channels, TfGM is showcasing real-life stories from Greater Manchester residents who have shared how they have benefited from active travel. Stories also explore how residents have gained the confidence to cycle through a training programme, or even made friends and connections through joining a walking group.
Among those sharing their active travel stories as part of the campaign, is Stockport resident Faye, who shares her experience of cycling in and around the town centre, for travelling to work and as means of keeping fit.
By 2040, TfGM want 50% of all journeys in Greater Manchester to be made by public transport or active travel, supporting a reduction in car use to no more than 50% of daily trips.
This summer, TfGM is hoping its latest campaign will inspire more people to take advantage of the warmer weather and lighter evenings to participate in walking, cycling and wheeling across the GM region.
