Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has awarded the contract for reactive maintenance and refurbishment workers across the city-region to Seddon Construction.
Seddon, which recently completed the £25 million redevelopment of Stockport College, will carry out important maintenance works for Greater Manchester’s bus stations and throughout the region’s growing public transport network, including 99 Metrolink tram stops.
The decorative and reactive maintenance works will significantly improve the appeal of the region’s public transport network. It follows the announcement of Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham’s ambitious plans for the city’s ‘London-Style’ Bee Network as he seeks to revitalise the city’s transport infrastructure. Seddon’s maintenance works will ensure each of the network’s Metrolink and bus stations are in the best possible condition.
The TfGM contract win follows Seddon’s painting team achieving a record £6 million turnover nationwide in 2022; this represents 15-fold growth for the team, which recorded just £400,000 turnover five years ago.
Danny McCann, director of painting and maintenance at Seddon, emphasises the importance of the team’s personnel in delivering projects with speed and minimal disruption to client operations. McCann explained,
“Our growth stems from the dedication and talent within our team, as well as the strong relationships we foster with our clients. We prioritise quality and service above all else, and our focus on flexibility, adaptability, and reliability sets us apart from the competition. Our recent growth demonstrates that we can handle a high volume of projects without compromising on quality.”
