Tandem Investment’s STOK, the 60,000 sq ft mixed use office, retail and leisure building in Stockport, is to welcome another two new tenants to the former M&S store.
STOK has agreed terms with Starbucks for a new café on the ground floor fronting Merseyway where it will take 2,263 sq ft on a fifteen-year lease.
The office scheme is also welcoming Brennan Consult a civil and structural engineering consultancy, who have relocated to the scheme due to the wealth of amenities the building has to offer and support their expansion plans. This latest letting means that over 87 desks have now been let in the building in less than three months.
Richard Rees, Director at STOK, said:
“An awful lot of progress has taken place at STOK over the last 6 months. I am particularly pleased and excited to have finalised the new lease with Starbucks; as an occupier they will drive footfall to the building from Merseyway and showcase the central atrium. Our decision to further invest significantly into the building in order to carve the ground and first floor space into smaller fully fitted office suites has proven to be very popular. The ‘plug and play’ arrangement appears to be increasingly popular in the more flexible post Covid era. The success of the STOK Hub space has led to further plans to carve up the remainder of the first floor to provide suites ranging from 14 to 30 desks.
“These works, alongside appointing Chloe Ellerby (formerly of Hurstwood Holdings) as our Project Director have led to a real step change in momentum; other new tenants include Valid8, CTRL-S and Valloop. The letting progress proves that we have now created a best-in-class product; an inspiring work environment with a diverse community enjoying exceptional amenities which appeal to companies looking to enhance their own work experience and especially helping businesses encourage their staff to get back in the office.”
STOK’s Chloe Ellerby (pictured) added:
“The Stockport office market remains buoyant; Stockport is a great town in the North West for attracting new talent. Through a combination of its strategic location and flexible office space and terms, STOK appeals to startups and SMEs as well as larger companies looking to create efficient but economical additional work spaces.”
Paul Richards, Director of Development and Regeneration for Stockport Council, said:
“It’s great that more new businesses are moving into Stockport and is a real testament to the quality of STOK. It shows all the hard work that is being carried out by the Council, MDC and our partners as part of our £1billion regeneration of the town centre is paying off. STOK is a great example of how to repurpose the high street by creating flexible space for businesses right in the heart of the town.
“Together with the recent launch of our new Interchange, we’re showcasing what a fantastic place Stockport town centre is to work, live and enjoy.”
