Sustainable Living in the Heatons have organised a four-day online festival, the Heatons Climate Action Festival, to both challenge and inspire the community to confront environmental concerns.
The four-day event will host a series of online discussions and webinars including a debate with local business owners and SMBC; a session featuring local retail businesses; how to deal with food and plastic waste, why Electric Vehicles are the future; advice on the Green Homes Grant and more.
The festival aims to educate on what can be done both as an individual and the Heatons as a community to adapt and support behavioural change in order to reverse anthropogenic climate change and biodiversity loss for the benefit of future generations.
The Heatons Climate Action Festival takes place over the weekends of 12th and 13th and 19th and 20th September using the Zoom videoconferencing platform and each event will be available as a recording afterwards.
Confirmed speakers for events across the two weekends include SMBC Director of Place, Mark Glynn; TfGM’s Jason Smith; local hospitality entrepreneur behind the Produce Hall and La Cantina, Steve Pilling; Carbon Literacy Trainer Sarah Mclelland; and local MP Navendra Mishra who will be quizzed on climate action by the Heatons Youth Climate Commission.
All online events are free to attend, but pre-booking is required via the festival website, where a full programme of all 12 events over the two weekends is detailed.
