Stockport disability charity, Supportability, has launched a new project, Wish for Wheels, to raise funds for a new accessible mini-bus.
Many of the individuals supported by organisation face mobility barriers that make everyday activities difficult to access. To combat this Supportability have launched ‘Our Wish for Wheels’ campaign, a fundraising project that will enable us to purchase a specially adapted minibus, equipped with:
- Wheelchair access and secure seating for comfort and safety
- Specialised accessibility features such as a tail lift tailored to mobility
What is the impact of a minibus?
Accessible transport removes barriers for the people supported by the charity, but it also fosters independence, enhances wellbeing, encourages community participation and ensures that no one is left to feel isolated.
Supportability believes that everyone deserves the freedom to travel safely, independently and with dignity and a minibus allows them to make this a reality.
How to get involved
Supportability is asking its local community to get involved in various ways to help raise the £73,000 for an accessible mini-bus, including:
- Donate: Every contribution brings Supportability closer to their goal!
- Fundraise: Host an event or challenge to support the minibus campaign.
- Share with your business contacts, spread the word and help us reach more supporters.
For more information about how to support the campaign, please contact Supportability Business Support Manager, Elli Tozer, or the charity’s fundraising team.
