Stockport’s filming boom continues

Stockport’ streets are back on primetime TV with a starring role as the filming location for BBC comedy The Power of Parker. The borough’s starring role in this and dozens of other TV dramas is bringing national attention as Stockport continues to attract filmmakers.

Stockport’s transformation into one of the UK’s most sought-after filming destinations is bringing jobs, investment and national attention to the borough, with film and TV productions generating £6.7 million for the local economy in just two years, Stockport Council has revealed.

From gritty underground thrillers to offbeat suburban comedies, production crews are turning to Stockport for its cinematic streetscapes, striking architecture and versatile filming locations — all just minutes from the region’s biggest studios and airports. The borough blends historic mills, brutalist car parks, Edwardian markets and leafy suburbs, so it’s easy to see why so many producers are making Stockport their location of choice.

Recent productions that feature Stockport include: 

• BBC Three’s Daddy Issues: The comedy series began filming its second season in Stockport in early 2025. The show stars BAFTA-winning actor Aimee Lou Wood, a Stockport native, who described filming in her hometown, as feeling like a ‘homecoming’.
• Netflix’ Fool Me Once: Based on Harlan Coben’s novel, the production transformed Stockport’s historic air raid tunnels into “Corey’s Den,” demonstrating the borough’s adaptability.
• ITV’s After the Flood: The crime drama shot key scenes in an underground car park in Stockport and at the historic Market Hall.
• Channel 4’s Everyone Else Burns: Starring Inbetweeners actor Simon Bird, this dark comedy series filmed scenes in Heaton Moor, utilising the borough’s suburban and urban landscapes to bring its unique setting to life.

Popular shows filmed in the borough also include Peaky Blinders, Years and Years, Inside No.9, Traces, Dodger, Everything I Know About Love, Sherwood from the BBC, Significant Other, Nolly, Bancroft, The Bay and The Tower from ITV, Everyone Else Burns and It’s a Sin from Channel 4, How To Date Billy Walsh from Amazon Feature, Wedding Season from Disney+ and The Rising, COBRA, Brassic and Wolfe from Sky.
