Stockport has been voted the UK’s 2nd happiest place to live following research undertaken by online property business, Rightmove.
Rightmove’s ‘Happy At Home’ Index is a unique, nationwide insight into the emotive relationship we have with the place we call home. Rightmove surveyed nearly 40,000 people asking them to rank 12 distinct factors about where they live, covering feelings towards our ‘property’, our ‘home’ and our ‘community’.
The index found that Harrogate is the UK’s happiest place to call home, and Stockport was 2nd! It also concluded that Northerners are overall happier where they live than Southerners. However, beyond these headlines, the HAHI also reveals individual stories for the 110 locations and 11 regions covered by the survey, as well as the 12 separate categories that the public were asked to rate.
Stockport came out 1st of 14, on top in the region in 3 sections:
Your Property – Décor; Your Home – Pride; Your Community – Amenities.
Not surprisingly Stockport also ranked 3rd overall throughout the UK for Pride and also for Décor – reinforcing Marketing Stockport’s belief that Stockport is a great place to live and to locate a business.
Rightmove director Miles Shipside comments:
“As a nation obsessed with property, our homes represent far more than simple bricks and mortar. Rightmove’s Happy At Home Index looks to capture how the British public truly feels about ‘home’ and gives us a view of the happiest places in the UK as rated by those who know best – the people who live there.”
