Part of a new Stockport town centre link road is set to open this week while final finishing touches takes place to the complete the construction works.
A new road, which will improve vehicle, cycle and pedestrian access between Stockport town centre and the M60, is set to partially open this week – but there may still be some disruption as the finishing touches to the construction works take place.
The Travis Brow Link Road – a key part of the borough’s £73 million Town Centre Access Plan (TCAP) – will improve vehicle, cycle and pedestrian access between Stockport town centre and the M60.
As work in the area will continue over the coming weeks, Stockport Council is asking that people bear with them while work is completed.

Once complete, the new road will connect the A6 north of Stockport town centre to the M60 at junction 1. New pedestrian and cycle routes will also be provided as part of the new road.
Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said:
“This investment in our transport networks will make it easier for everyone to travel into and around Stockport town centre, regardless of how they travel.
“And although the new road will partially open soon, there will still be some disruption before all of the work has been completed.
“We understand that roadworks can be frustrating for residents, businesses and visitors to our borough – and we appreciate everyone’s patience during this work.”
