Stockport is gearing up to host its fourth annual Climate Action Now Summit on Friday 22nd November 2024.
Organised by Stockport Council, the event brings together businesses and community organisations in the borough to to celebrate, connect, and inspire action to address the climate crisis.
The Climate Action Now Summit is open to all residents, communities, organisations, businesses and stakeholders who want Stockport to be a climate-friendly place to live and work.
As well as updating on the council’s actions, this year’s event will include talks, discussions and workshops that will get us all thinking. The day’s agenda will include:
- 9.30-10am Arrival
- 10-11.20am Stockport CAN – The council will share progress and actions from the past year and highlight key projects. Young people will share their views on climate action in Stockport.
- 11.40am-12.30pm Morning Session
- Climate, Health & Inequalities panel discussion
- Workshop 1 – Joyful Journeys!
- Workshop 2 – Growing a Sustainable Food System
- 12.30-1.30pm – Lunch
- 1.30-2.40pm Afternoon session
- How can we grow Green Skills in Stockport?
- Workshop 1 – How can we increase Climate Resilience?
- Workshop 2 – How can we support Community Climate Action?
- 2.20-2.30pm – Closing remarks
- 2.30-3.00pm – Networking
The main sessions will take place in the ballroom at Stockport Town Hall. The workshops will take place in the committee rooms and as such places on the workshops will be limited.
