Stockport Council has been awarded a £2.4 million allocation of funding for the Communities and Place strand of the UK Strategic Priorities Fund (UKSPF).
The UKSPF is a central pillar of the government’s Levelling Up agenda and aims to help build stronger, more resilient communities, and creating vibrant and sustainable places for people across the nation. The Communities and Place funding strand aims to address the diverse challenges faced by communities, enhance local assets, foster social cohesion, and create opportunities for economic growth and levelling up by empowering collaboration between local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders.
The UK Government and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority have together committed a total of £2.4 million over 3 years to be distributed among projects throughout Stockport. Funding will be made available through a competitive bidding process, ensuring that the most impactful and transformative projects receive the support they need.
Cllr Mark Hunter, Leader of Stockport Council said:
“Empowered communities and well-planned, vibrant places are the backbone of a thriving Stockport. This UKSPF funding will help us to deliver on the ambition and priorities set out in our Borough Plan and will support our Town of Culture plans.
“This funding also provides vital support to the Council, organisations, and individuals who are working tirelessly to improve the lives of people in our communities. It will also drive sustainable growth, foster social cohesion, and create activities that everyone can take part in and environments where everyone can flourish.”
