A private hire driver working in Stockport pleaded guilty to picking up passengers without a prior booking through a licensed operator.
Mr Nasser Nasseri, aged 52, of Higginson Road, Reddish, admitted the offences of plying for hire and having no insurance at Stockport Magistrates Court on Friday 8th February.
The offence took place on 21st June 2012 on Ack Lane East in Bramhall and was witnessed by Council Licensing Enforcement Officers.
He was given six penalty points, disqualification for 9 months and ordered to pay a £400 fine, plus costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £15.
Councillor Chris Gordon, Stockport Council’s Chair of Licensing, Environment & Safety Committee, said: “This case should serve as a warning to taxi drivers that illegally plying for hire and driving without insurance is something the Council takes seriously. When we have sufficient evidence action will be taken against those responsible in order to safeguard the public.”
