Remember the Stockport frogs?
In 2019, Stockport’s Giant Leap Frog Art Trail attracted thousands and thousands of new visitors, residents, and families of all ages to the town centre to seek out all 19 giant frogs on the trail, later to be joined by three visiting frogs!
This summer, Stockport’s Business Improvement District, Totally Stockport, has launched the Gigantic Leap Frog Art Trail. 21 brand new, gigantic colourful frogs have hopped into the town centre. And not only that, 17 of their One Stockport frog buddies are leaping into locations across the whole borough.
Stockport’s Gigantic Leap Frog Art Trail launched at an event hosted by Totally Stockport at the Light cinema. Artists and sponsors were joined by the Mayor of Stockport, Cllr Adrian Nottingham and invited guests before having a chance to visit all 21 frogs on the trail.
Supporting the art trail are sponsors Amstone, Carecall, Floreeda, Girlguiding Stockport, Holiday Inn Express, Marketing Stockport, Merseyway, musicMagpie; Nexperia, Orbit Developments, Robinsons Brewery, Simon Charles Auctioneers, St Ann’s Hospice, Stockport County, Totally Stockport and the Vernon Building Society.
All 21 frogs on the trail will stay in the town centre until 26th September before hopping off to auction sometime in October. All proceeds of the auction are being donated to St Ann’s Hospice who are this year celebrating the 50th anniversary. The proceeds of the 2019 frog auction were donated to Tree Tops, the children’s department at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Stockport BID manager Paul Taylor is delighted the frogs are once again back in Stockport town centre:
“To say everyone has been through a difficult time is an understatement. Now it’s time to get back into our town centre and what better way to celebrate than with another brilliant trail that’s even bigger and better than before. The artists have done a fantastic job.
“And, just like last time, organisations have got involved by sponsoring a frog, planning frog-related activities throughout the summer including the schools Gigantic Leap Activity programme.”
