As a small or medium sized business in Stockport with the opportunity to improve your operational efficiency and reduce your carbon footprint, the Stockport Sustainable Business Challenge could be exactly right for your business.
The Stockport Sustainable Business Challenge – a new business grant competition led by Stockport Economic Alliance, funded by Stockport Council and supported by the Business Growth Hub’s Green Growth team – is inviting local SMEs to compete for a share of £50,000 to reduce their impact on the environment and deliver real economic benefits.
Successful applicants will receive a grant of between £3,000 and £10,000 to cover up to 50% of the total eligible costs of purchasing and installing technology that will improve resource efficiency (i.e. the reduction of energy, materials, water or waste) and in turn deliver both cost savings and carbon savings.
The Challenge is seeking projects that can be ready to be implemented by 30 September 2015 and are able to evidence a strong return on the grant investment, including annual cost and carbon savings to the business.
Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Energy efficient lighting
- Heating, ventilation & air conditioning systems
- Energy management
- Manufacturing technology to improve process efficiency or reduce raw materials
- Equipment to reduce or reuse packaging material and waste
- Building insulation
- Rainwater harvesting
- Variable speed drives
- Voltage optimisation
- Waste heat electricity generation
- Heat recovery
- Solvent recovery
