Two construction trainees from Stockport College have won a place at the finals of the UK’s largest multi-trade competition, SkillBuild 2013.
The two trainees who already triumphed at the North West regional heat of SkillBuild competed against the other regional winners at the Skills Show, the UK’s biggest skills and careers show which took place at the NEC Birmingham from 14-16 November.
The event, plays host to a series of sector competitions to find the UK’s best young craftsmen and women with the aim of getting invited to represent the UK at WorldSkills 2015, in Brazil.

In the Dry lining category Joseph Hibbs,
19 from Heaton Norris received a
Bronze award and Liam Thelwell,

Highly Commended Award.

by CITB, the Sector Skills Council.
The event saw nearly 150 talented
individuals battling to be crowned the
best in their field in a range of skills
from Stonemasonry to Painting and
Decorating.
The Skills Show saw some special guests, including Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Minister for Skills and Enterprise Matthew Hancock and Skills Show patron Dragons Den’s Theo Paphitis.
