Stockport store named in Guardian’s Top 20 Independent Boutiques
The Old Town General Store in Stockport town centre has been named in the Guardian’s chosen Top 20 Independent Boutiques in Britain and Ireland.
Located in the burgeoning Underbanks area of the town, ironically, The Old Town General Store has only recently relocated from it’s original home in Lower Hillgate to a larger retail space on Great Underbank.
Opened by proprietor Tony Murray, who earned his fashionista stripes working with premier brands including Flannels, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, it’s been just three years since Tony took the giant leap to open his own store. Selling select brands to his customers, the Old Town General store has caught the eye of more than just customers who appreciate great style. Being recognised by national media fashion critics after such a short time is more than he could have ever dreamed of:
“We are totally blown away. After only 36 months trading to be named with 19 other retail legends is the stuff of dreams.
“We are proud we chose Stockport to open and thank everyone that has come through the door since we opened and everyone that has supported online. This is only the start as we strive to improve. Join us June 17th as we celebrate in store.”
