Stockport’s newest and biggest sporting venue, Stockport Sports Village in Woodley are proud to host a glittering evening of sporting celebration on Friday 27th September. The awards will honour the town’s top sporting personalities and volunteers.
Winners on the night will represent Stockport at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards held annually in November. The Awards, of which there are nine categories in total, will be judged by a highly esteemed independent judging panel. Finalists in all categories shall be invited to the evening with winners being announced on the night.
Tickets are now on sale for this event priced at £27.50, which includes a 3 course meal, the presentation of awards and a very special guest speaker, Natasha Jones. Tickets can be purchased individually or in groups (tables of 10).
Natasha Jonas made history as the first British female boxer to both qualify and compete at an Olympic Games. Ranked 5th in the World in her lightweight division, the hugely popular Liverpudlian ran eventual gold medallist and superstar Katie Taylor of Ireland close in London 2012, and claimed bronze at last year’s World Championships in China. Natasha also has a European gold and bronze medal in her impressive collection.
Along with rest of the British podium squad, Natasha is now preparing for next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, followed by the World Championships. After that, all roads lead to Rio and another crack at Olympic gold.
Away from training, Natasha is an ambassador for Sky Sports and works with the ‘Living for Sport’ programme, an initiative in secondary schools that uses sports skills to boost confidence, change behaviour, increase achievement and improve life skills.
