Stockport’s Apprenticeships Store has launched a survey for employers in the borough to share their views on apprenticeships as the town marks National Apprenticeship Week.
The service is looking for responses from all business sectors and sizes, regardless of whether an apprentice has been employed in the past. Responses to the anonymous online survey will help the Apprenticeship Store to most effectively continue to support both businesses and apprentices in the borough.
Apprenticeships are real jobs with training. They allow people to learn new skills, develop existing skills and study for nationally recognised qualifications – all whilst working. Apprenticeships are for everyone living in England who are over the age of 16 and not already in full-time education. An apprentice might be a school or college leaver, an existing staff-member, or someone looking for a career change. There is no upper age limit on apprenticeships.
The ten-question survey seeks to hear whether Stockport businesses are currently or have previously employed apprentices, and what barriers firms faced in hiring, as well as the support they would like to see for apprenticeships.
A section of the online questionnaire also asks businesses to consider the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is impacting their views on apprenticeships within the business. Businesses can also comment on Stockport’s supported apprenticeship scheme, helping young people with specific barriers to employment into work (including disability, special educational needs, young carers and care leavers).
