Stockport based Robinsons brewery has added two new fizzy wines – a Pinot and a Chardonnay 2013 blend from West country producers Smith and Evans.
Aldwick estate’s Pinot Noir Jubilate Rosé is a fine wine with layers of texture and rich fruit which Noel Reid, Wine Buyer for Robinson’s Brewery in Stockport, describes as divine.
The family run Aldwick Court Farm and Vineyard joined forces with Smith and Evans in May and are on a mission to restore trade awareness of traditional quality winegrowing in Somerset.
Noel Reid, Wine Buyer for Robinsons Brewery understands the values the estate hold and Sand Luck, Managing Director of Aldwick Court Farm and Vineyard expressed her gratitude at the partnership:
“Aldwick now celebrates victory in Robinsons’ proposed alliance. We could not wish for better, what with mutually shared principles of family-oriented business values, the pursuit of excellence, and geographical affinity. From North to South, West is best”
Noel has chosen companies which hold similar strong family values but clearly know a thing or two about tipples!
He added:
“It is the perfect time to offer these English wines to our customers. The English Fizz market has never looked in better shape and the two producers we have selected will offer our customers English fizz of exceptional quality. The strength of both these Somerset wineries would suggest a real future for the region in the sparkling wine arena producing high quality fizz of real character. It’s nice to be able to champion the region and we are looking forward to sharing both these lovely wines with our customers.”
Highlighting the somewhat underrated vineyards in the UK, Noel notes that he hopes listing Aldwick’s Rose alongside Smith and Evans Chardonnay “will really open customers’ eyes to what our vineyards can produce here in the UK”
With over 179 years of brewing experience, the award winning family business is looking to list the wines in their portfolio, with bottles being available to purchase both through the estate of Robinsons pubs in the North West and through free trade channels.
