A Stockport trader pleaded guilty to selling alcohol to a person under the age of 18 at Stockport Magistrates Court on Wednesday 11th September.
Mr Mushtaq Hussain, aged 55, who was Designated Premises Supervisor and Premises Licence Holder at Londis, Keswick Road in Heaton Chapel pleaded guilty to the offence contrary to section 146 of the Licensing Act 2003.
Mr Hussain was fined £165, plus a victim surcharge of £20 and costs £471.97 making a total of £656.97.
Mr Hussain’s employee made this sale on the 11th January 2013 and the Court heard that another employee of Mr Hussain’s had previously made a sale of alcohol to an underage volunteer in August 2012.
Councillor Stuart Bodsworth, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Sustainability, said:
“Stockport Council will continue to take robust enforcement action against any licensed premises found to be breaking the law on under age sales, we do not accept this kind of behaviour from local businesses.”
