Manchester-based car dealership group, Lookers, have submitted plans to Stockport Council to rebuild their Renault dealership following a fire last year at the premises.
The Renault dealership on St Mary’s Way, Stockport, was severely damaged in a fire in September 2019.
After last year’s fire, the building has been condemned by insurers due to the extensive damage to the both the interior and exterior of Lookers Renault, which forms part of a site owned by the dealership group that includes buildings for its Skoda and Seat outlets in Stockport.
Plans outline how Lookers will use the existing building’s steel frame to rebuild the dealership on the same site.
The new building will have the same footprint and internal floor area, with only minor changes to the exterior, such as windowless garage doors to the workshop, and changes to locations of glazing, cladding and doors.
As a result of the fire, Lookers has been forced to relocate its Renault and Dacia new car dealerships in Stockport to the former Mercedes site on Wellington Road North.
Plans for the buildings have been prepared by Manchester based Chartered Architects, Northmill Associates who also prepared the planning application.
A separate planning application has also been submitted for the advertising and signage on the buildings.
