Lookers’ Renault dealership in Stockport has reopened on its original site on St Mary’s Way after being devastated by fire in 2019.
A senior Director at Lookers described the £3 million investment in the rebuilt premises as a positive sign for the future, despite economic challenges currently facing the motor trade due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Michael Scott, Franchise Director for Lookers Renault, praised the local team for its resilience during the rebuild effort as they celebrated the reopening of the Stockport Renault dealership following a fire which badly damaged the building last September.
The site’s New Car and Aftersales teams relocated to the former Mercedes dealership on Wellington Road North during the rebuild and continued to support customers from this temporary site.
The £3 million investment in the St. Mary’s Way location has allowed the dealership to offer an enhanced experience for customers and staff including a state-of-the-art sales and servicing area and other upgraded facilities, following a successful planning submission to rebuild earlier in the year. The site boasts new meeting rooms, team break rooms and an indoor handover area for that exciting moment customers collect their new car as just a few of the additions to the dealership. Furthermore, the workshop for servicing customers has expanded significantly, with ramp capacity increasing by 20% on site.
Michael Scott, Franchise Director for Lookers Renault said:
This £3 million investment in our Stockport dealership is a hugely welcome development and a really positive sign for the future. Not only does it allow us to increase our servicing capacity and offer a modern, fresh and dynamic experience for customers and staff, but it has given us the opportunity to return even stronger and invest in our future success in Stockport. The team has shown incredible resilience and commitment to excellent customer service despite being faced with several challenges alongside the temporary relocation.”
David Sowerby who is appointed as Branch Manager for the site in November said:
The fire and relocation have been a challenge for everyone concerned, and I’d like to thank our customers and colleagues for their patience and understanding during this period. However, this difficult situation has given us the opportunity to come back even stronger with a market-leading state-of-the-art facility. We’re incredibly proud of the new dealership and I know the team are excited to welcome customers back through the doors.”
The £3 million investment shows the Manchester-headquartered dealership chain’s continued commitment to Stockport, with Lookers having a number of dealerships in the town as well as its national aftercare contact centre.
