Stockport based business, Elsa Recycling Group, has secured planning approval from Stockport Council to expand its operations onto a neighbouring site.
Based on Station Road, Reddish, Elsa Recycling Group currently handles 700 tonnes of paper and card recycling per week. After purchasing neighbouring Climax Works in 2019, the recycling business will now move forward with plans to redevelop the site, with the planned expansion allowing for improved access and making the firm’s Stockport operations safer and more efficient.
Amended proposals for the recycling business’ expansion were approved unanimously after the original plans, first put forward in December 2020, were rejected by Stockport Council in April. Consultants, P4 Planning worked with Elsa Recycling Group to prepare the plans and help the business address concerns from the local community.
Greg Humphreys, Elsa Recycling Group managing director, said:
Our investment and plans are designed to ensure that the important recycling service we provide can operate more efficiently, safely and with less impact, helping us become better neighbours in the local community.”
Rhian Thomas, director at P4 Planning, said:
The proposed development greatly improves the existing operation and will bring significant improvements to Elsa’s efficiency and to the amenity of neighbouring local residents.
“This approval enables Elsa to invest in its future development which will benefit the whole area and continue to assist sustainable waste efforts across the North West.”
Other firms consulting on the plans include M’GRA and SKTP Transport Consultants.
