After being closed for the majority of the last 14 months, the Stockport pub group, Almond Family Pubs, has reopened the Spread Eagle in Romiley.
The historic pub opened its doors once again in May after receiving a facelift to inject new life into the well-loved establishment.
Whilst being cautious of costs due to the effects of Covid the Almond family have transformed the pub with new carpets, upgraded furniture, new décor in every room and a brand-new back bar.

The Covid-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns have been highly damaging to much of the hospitality sector over the last year with Almond Family Pubs Stockport locations no exception. In December 2020, the family-run group handed in its notice to the relevant breweries to leave the Three Bears and The Hesketh pubs which had been worst affected by lockdowns.

It’s been a tough year, we’ve lost two of our pubs but we’ve said all along we’ll come out of this fighting and that is exactly what we’re doing! The Spread Eagle is a lovely little pub and it’s suffered more than our other pubs as it wasn’t able to open in April due to having a smaller garden. The refurb has breathed new life into the place, it’s a pleasure to be in. Just what our lovely customers needed after a long winter without the place!”
