A pop-up shop in the Merseyway Shopping Centre is continuing to support local independent businesses to test the high street in Stockport.
In a unit next to Waterstones in the shopping precinct, the space has already welcomed many fantastic small businesses in Stockport this year. Retail property consultants, Barker Proudlove, manage the initiative and are inviting others to test the space.
The pop-up shop has been specially designed to provide local businesses with the perfect opportunity to test the high street before considering committing to a physical space permanently. The space also offers the opportunity to showcase a business’s diverse product range to customers visiting Merseyway Shopping Centre.
Cllr Colin MacAlister, Stockport Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Regeneration & Housing said:
“We are delighted to have this initiative which helps small local businesses in our borough, particularly when businesses continue to feel the ongoing effects of the current cost of living crisis across the country.
“The Stockport Pop Up continues to provide an exciting physical space for independents to test the high street as we move into the summer months and is a win-win for both businesses and shoppers alike.”
First launched in 2021, the Stockport Pop Up can be rented at an all-inclusive weekly cost of £275 (ex vat). This price includes rent, bills, business rates, service charge, basic furnishings and even social media promotion on the bespoke Stockport Pop Up page.
