Award winning Stockport Plaza volunteers of all ages have bared all in true ‘Calendar Girls’ style.
The volunteers have stripped off for a 2017 fundraising calendar in aid of the ongoing maintenance and restoration appeal of Stockport’s Art Deco Super Cinema & Variety Theatre.
Inspired by the original WI calendar, The Plaza team, who range in ages from 21 to 80, took part in a photoshoot showing off the Art Deco gem as well as their dedication to the venue. The images were shot by internationally recognised photographer, Neil Kendall, who is no stranger to making women feel fabulous previously photographing the likes of Dita Von Teese and having images featured in Vogue.
In 2015 Neil was named ‘The World’s Best Burlesque Photographer’ in Burlesque Bible Magazine. His images have been published in a wide variety of books, magazines and newspapers ranging from Vogue to The Guardian.

The Stockport Plaza is a Grade II listed Super Cinema & Variety Theatre in the heart of Stockport.
Opened on 7th October 1932, The Plaza has had a colourful past from her growth as the finest cinema and variety theatre in the region, to her days as a bingo hall and nightclub from the 1970s. The building was sold to Stockport Plaza Trust in 2000 and brought back to its former glory thanks to the dedication of the award winning volunteers and the local community.
The Plaza is going from strength to strength with an extensive programme of live entertainment, classic and modern films, an Art Deco tea room serving the delicious Plaza Afternoon Tea and now also a popular venue for weddings and private events.
Neil Kendall is a British photographer who is based in North West England.
